A Step Closer
Well, I had my second interview and testing for my work from home job with Cora yesterday. It went really well, better than I had expected, actually. I was really nervous, and it turns out it was for no reason.
The woman interviewing me was really nice, asking me questions about what I'm interested in, and what I'd like to do. She had a couple questions about my disability, and that was about it for the interview.
Then, I had to take a couple of tests. This was the part that made me nervous, but as it turned out, they were really easy. All I had to do was look up the closest post office to me on the US Postal Service website, then find directions from my house to that post office on MapQuest. Very easy! I had twenty minutes to complete the test, and got it done in under five!
The next test was a typing test. I had the opportunity to take it as many times as I wanted, and had fifteen minutes to complete it. Another very easy test! I took it three times to try to better my score and ended up with 46wpm with only one mistake.
So, now I just wait to hear from Cora after they receive the results. I know it sounds like a lot of hassle for a job, but you have to remember. Cora is hiring sight unseen, and they must be sure that I'm going to be able to handle a self motivating job. They have to be sure their employees can take the initiative and work without a boss or even co-workers.
It won't be long now, and my new computer is on its way! Since I'm going to be working from home, and the computer I have here doesn't meet the requirements of Cora, the DVR (Division of Vocational Rehabilitation) is providing me with a brand new computer with a 20" monitor! I'll be able to see what I'm doing for a change!
If anyone out there reading this is disabled, and not able to work outside the home, contact me. I can provide you with Cora's information. I also suggest getting in contact with your local DVR office. They work wonders in helping people with disabilities get jobs. And they help them get the equipment or education they need to get the job done! Contact me at Shawn@livelaughblogg.com for more information.

It's Beeen A While!
Wow! I guess it's been a while since I've posted. It just seems like time gets away from me once in a while. Nothing special has been going on, but it seems like there just isn't enough time in a day to get everything done.
The main thing I've been doing lately, is ChaCha. I absolutely love it! I had originally started with the idea that if I made at least $500 before Christmas to help out with gift buying, I'd be happy. Well, I have already surpassed that goal and am now shooting for $1000!
When I first started, I didn't see the earning potential. I was slow, and it seemed to take so long to find answers. The pay didn't seem worth it, but I kept at it. Now, I've learned a few things that have helped me to be faster at searching, and answering the questions is easy. It's actually fun now, and not so tedious anymore.
If anyone is looking for a way to earn a little extra money for Christmas or whatever, give ChaCha a try! If you care to sign up and have a go, email me at Shawn@livelaughblogg.com, and I'll send you the information. I have invites available.

I Will Be Working From Home Soon!
I'm really excited! I just had my pre-assessment interview with the team from Cora, an online company that hires people with disabilities to work from home. My DVR counselor referred me to them, and I couldn't be happier.
It's been a process, that's for sure. You don't just get hired right off the bat. There's paperwork to fill out, interviews to go through, testing to do, but soon, I'll be working from home and earning a real income!
What's great too, is that I'm getting a brand new computer and a bigger monitor to do my job on. My DVR counselor is purchasing the computer for me through the program, and the larger monitor will allow me to enlarge everything and still be able to see it all without having to scroll back and forth! It should be here in the next week.
I can't wait to get started. It's been far too long without a job, and I was starting to feel somewhat useless around here. Especially when the bills came in the mail, and there wasn't enough money to cover them all. This job working from home is going to do wonders for my self confidence!
As things progress, I'll keep you all updated, and if anyone has any questions about how to get started working from home, don't hesitate to ask. Now, before you do ask, I'm not sure if Cora hires anyone other than people with disabilities, but I know of a couple of other places that do. Despite all the scams on the Internet for work at home jobs, there are legitimate ones, and I'm proof!

Dealing With Grief
Sorry I haven't been around much lately. It's been a really trying couple of weeks around here. I'm still dealing with a bad back, although it is starting to feel a little bit better. I had X-rays done at the end of last week, and am waiting for the doc to let me know what's up with it.
I have a terrible cold that Tristan so kindly shared with me and the rest of the family. I woke up this morning and went to the medicine cabinet for some cold medicine, and imagine my surprise when I find the empty cold medicine box still in the cabinet. Everyone used it all up, and didn't bother to tell me it was gone. So, I'm all stuffy today. Figures.
Earlier this week, we had a death in the family. Our old dog, Missy, got hit by a car when I put her out to use the bathroom. She was eleven, and we had her since she was six weeks old. It's been hard on all of us. She was actually Tristan's dog, and he's taking it the hardest. I gave him her collar, and he hung it up in his room. We all miss her so much. I still cry when I think about her.
So, I haven't felt much like blogging. I haven't felt much like anything with this back pain. I hope the doc calls today with my results. At this point, after two months of pain, I'm willing to try anything just to get rid of it. I think the next step is physical therapy or a chiropractor.
Anyway, I'm here physically, maybe not so much mentally.

Update On ChaCha
As my regular readers know, I am visually impaired and unable to work outside the home. I use my blog as a money making source, and just recently, I started as a Guide with ChaCha.
What's ChaCha, you ask? Well, it's this great site on the Internet that hires people to answer the questions texted in by its customers. See, if someone has a question they'd like to know the answer to, they can call 1-800-2CHACHA or text 242242 with their questions. A Guide like me looks the answer up on the Web, and then sends it back to the customer. It's really easy, and I've already made over $200 since starting at the end of August. What's really cool about it is that I can work any time I want. There are no set hours.
I can invite others to apply to be a Guide with ChaCha, too. If anyone is interested, please email me at Shawn@livelaughblogg.com, and I'll get you an invite ASAP. It's really a great way to make a few extra bucks and maybe even learn a thing or two that you didn't know before. I know I sure have!

Facebook Is Evil!
Just this last week, I discovered Facebook. Now, I'm not stupid. I knew what Facebook was a long time ago, I just had no interest in using it. That was the way it was until last week when working for ChaCha, I had to sign up for Facebook in order to be able to view other people's profiles to find information. After signing up, I began looking around. I had no idea the amount of fun I was missing all these years!
It's like Webkinz for adults! I found a few old friends from high school on there that I haven't seen in over ten years, and even a couple from my old high school in Georgia!
Now, all my free time is spent on Facebook, and even time that I really don't have is spent on there. My housework is suffering, and my back is suffering, and it's all Facebook's fault! I have to physically force myself to walk away.
So, now I am a Facebook junkie, and I'm recruiting others to join my cause. Mike signed up too after finding out that I found a few old friends from high school. Now, he's Facebooking too. It's a vicious circle, I'm telling you!

Still In Pain
For a month and a half now, I've been going through hell with this back injury. Back in the middle of August, I pulled something while cleaning behind the toilet in my bathroom. Sounds stupid, I know, but ever since then, I have been in constant pain.
The pain started in my lower back, and over time has migrated into my right butt cheek, down my right leg, and into my foot, causing my second and third toe to go numb most of the time.
I've been to the ER because the pain was so bad. They gave me pain meds and muscle relaxers, which do help, but nothing takes the pain away completely. I went to my doctor this week and he's sending me to have x-rays done tomorrow to see what's going on. He told me it is Sciatica, and a small percentage of people with sciatica will require surgery. Since my case isn't showing signs of improving, he wants to know what's going on inside there. He refilled my prescriptions and sent me on my way.
I can't sit for more than five minutes, I can't stand for any longer, either. Sleeping at night is excruciating. I haven't had a full night's rest since it happened. I wake up in horrible pain and have to sit up until it subsides. I'm a walking, painful zombie. I don't know which is worse, the tired zombie feeling, or the drug induced zombie feeling.
So, tomorrow I go for x-rays. Hopefully something comes of it, because I don't know how much more of this I can take. I told Mike that this pain is one hundred times worse then labor/giving birth pain because at least labor pains go away after a few hours. This just continues, day after day, week after week. It's really getting old.
